The thermal spray coating produces a slightly porous, which is often sealed with organic materials that penetrate and fill the pores.

The sealant is a material that applied on the coating hardens and cures forming a barrier against water, l’aria, environmental pollution, vibrations, insects, dirt preventing the attack at the interface coating / substrate.

The sealant performs several functions:

a) prevents corrosion at the interface coating / substrate;

b) prevents residual correction, unpolished, grinding creep into the pores;

c) improves the adhesion of the coating intermolecular;

d) increases the life of the coating of zinc and aluminum;

and) ensures the surface properties such as non-stick against the jam, bonding and promotes the release or the release.

The choice of sealant is made according to the temperature and vulcanization time. When choosing the sealant you must be sure that its viscosity is very low, that penetrates into the pores to a depth satisfactory, resists corrosion and chemistry at operating temperature after curing.

They can be applied with brushes, spraying or immersion. The choice depends on the properties of the sealant and the extent of the coating.
